Biography

Federica Poli received the 5-year Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering "summa cum laude" from the University of Parma in April 2002.
She received the Ph.D. degree in Information Technology from the University of Parma in March 2006, discussing a thesis with title "Photonic crystal fibers: design, applications and perspectives".
From 2006 to 2010 she was temporary Research Fellow at the Information Engineering Department of the University of Parma.
From 2010 to 2013 she was a short-term technical-administrative of the University of Parma, working at the Information Engineering Department.
From December 2013 to November 2016 she was a fixed-term Assistant Professor at the Information Engineering Department of the University of Parma.
From December 2016 she is Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma.
She is co-author of the book: F. Poli, A. Cucinotta, S. Selleri, "Photonic Crystal Fibers. Properties and Applications", Springer Series in Materials Science, Vol. 102, 2007.
She is also co-author of 40 papers published in leading international journals and of 170 papers presented at the most important national and international conferences in the field of optics.
She is peer reviewer for many scientific journals.
She received the “Marisa Bellisario” Prize in the section “Laureate con 110 e lode” in 2003 (XV edition).

Research activity on:
• specialty optical fibers, in particular photonic crystal fibers
• fiber lasers and amplifiers
• optical fiber sensors
developed in collaboration with national and international research centers and companies.
