Enrico Coscelli was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy, on June 8, 1982. He received the "Laurea" degree in Telecommunication Engineering (3-year program) from University of Parma in 2005, discussing a thesis on "Analisi numerica di guide dielettriche" ("Numerical Analisys of Dielectric Waveguides"). In 2008 he got his "Laurea Magistrale" degree (3+2-year program) "cum laude", with a thesis on "Confinamento della luce in fibre microstrutturate con nucleo solido e cavo" ("Light Confinement in Microstructured Fibers with Solid and Hollow Core"). He received his Ph.D. in Information Technologies by the University of Parma in 2013, defending a thesis on "Design of Innovative Photonic Crystal Fibers for High Power Lasers".
He is working with the Group of Applied ElectroMagnetics (GAEM) of the University of Parma since 2009. His current research activities include photonic crystal fibers, optical fiber sensors, fiber lasers and optical systems for car emission measurements. Between 2009 and 2012 he has been involved in the fiber design task of the European FP7 project ALPINE. From April 2013 to July 2013 he has been visiting researcher at NKT Photonics A/S (Denmark), where he collaborated with the fiber technology group.
